Workshops, Presentations & Keynotes

“Tools for Learning™: Technology for Diverse Learners”
The “toolkit” that can help students develop effective learning strategies and study skills is often found in common desktop tools and online resources. Learn about the flexible features of “universally designed” desktop software and online tools in developing the 21st Century learning skills to support the diverse learners. Learn how to help students to establish a foundation of independent learning to be successful in school and in life. Read a review from the 2005 NECC Conference.

“Technology, AYP and Literacy”
Gain insight into what the role technology has in removing barriers to learning and in improving literacy and Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under No Child Left Behind (NCLB) for students with learning disabilities and differences. An examination of the scientifically-based research on technology, learning and achievement will be presented followed by a review on how to leverage “universally designed” desktop software, web-based tools and specialized software to support diverse learners in their access to and understanding of the general curriculum.

“The Role of Technology in Improving Outcomes for All Learners”
How can schools leverage their technology investments to improve academic outcomes for all learners? Gain an understanding of technology currently available to support all learners. Practice and learn practical instructional strategies employed by teachers to engage learners in academic tasks.

“Data, Instructional Strategies and Technology: Putting the Pieces Together”
Schools are using assessment programs that are producing an avalanche of data and instructional strategies designed to improve the academic outcomes and Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for students. The question is, “How does a classroom teacher sift through this information to develop effective standards-based lessons?” Learn how to apply the appropriate technology to the recommended instructional strategies in your lessons in order to meet the needs of all learners.

“ICT Literacy For All: The Time is Now!”
The perception that schools must choose between complying with No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and expanding their goals to incorporate 21st Century Skills is fallacious: 21st Century Skills are required for schools to succeed in shifting to evidence-based practice. Information and Communication Technologies Literacy (ICT), the ability to choose and use the appropriate technology for the task, is crucial for both teachers and students. For over 20 years, educators have been told what to do, and why it is important; Learn how to understand and use evidence and research to make ICT Literacy a reality in schools.

Professional Seminar

“Assistive Technology, IDEA 2004 and NCLB” presented by Attorney Scott Johnson of NHEdLaw and Kathleen H. McClaskey, President of EdTech Associates
Learn about assistive technology under IDEA, how desktop technologies can support student learning and what role technology may have for special education students in achieving Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
